It's neither unreasonable nor undoable - I may think about it
after finishing some mouse conveniences like group movement.

It would be helpful is someone wanted to draw some more mouse cursors
like the ones in client/include/*.xbm. They are small bitmaps (2 color
images), that could be used for many things, including:

+ maybe a keyboard goto cursor that is separate from the mouse cursor.
+ a marker to show expected "end turn" tiles in long-range gotos, based
  on remaining movement points, so you easily can see how many turns it
  will take to get to the end of your goto line.
+ Miscellaneous cursors to indicate Bodyguard, Group movement, numbers
  for map bookmarking.

Maybe some of it would have to be normal sprites, but still simple ones.
