[Freeciv-Dev] truncated city names in Gtk+2 client (PR#1355)[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index] [Thread Index]
Full_Name: Kimiko Koopman Version: 1.12.1-devel gui-gtk-2.0 Distribution: Built from source Client: Gtk+ OS: Linux/GNU/RawHide Submission from: (NULL) (213.84.28.102) City names with accented letters in them get truncated (when displayed; savegames are fine) just before the first accented letter. For example, 'København' becomes 'K' and 'Århus' becomes '' (empty string; at least that's what it looks like). Trying to change the city name sometimes crashes the client with something like this: civclient (pid:17002): ** CRITICAL **: file pango-layout.c: line 1707 (pango_layout_get_cursor_pos): assertion `index >= 0 && index <= layout->length' failed I also get many warnings during gameplay like these: civclient (pid:17002): ** WARNING **: Invalid UTF8 string passed to pango_layout_set_text() and civclient (pid:17002): Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtktextbuffer.c: line 476 (gtk_text_buffer_emit_insert): assertion `g_utf8_validate (text, len, NULL)' failed Could this be a bug in freeciv, or in pango? Locale is unset (which means 'C' locale is used, right?). Pango and GTK+2 versions are 1.0.0-5 and 2.0.0-2, respectively. Freeciv version is CVS tarball of March 25.
