[Freeciv-Dev] compiling problems on Solaris (PR#973)

OS: Sun Solaris 5.7 (SunOS e450 5.7 )

After doing the configure script, as i try to do make all.
But the make failed with po files.

I found that my "msgfmt" does not support the "--statistic" flag.
I remove it and it works.

My question is :
why didn't configure script remove this flag for my system ?
