[Freeciv-Dev] Why passoword for anonymous CVS?

I looked at http://www.freeciv.org/contribute.html#SetupCVS and saw that 
Freeciv has a password for anonymous CVS. Why? Other projects seem to do fine 
without a password. They usually have something like "Just press Enter if 
there is a question about a password." in their anonymous CVS instructions.
