This is a bug in 1.11.4, never reported with the development version.
(Having a new release would help here.)

This is supposed to be impossible.  The only applications that
hang the system, in my experience, are those that take massive
amounts of memory; this is a situation the rteleases of Linux
that I've used didn't handle well.  But the Freeciv client doesn't
need a lot of memory.  So I'm really wondering what was going on there.
Let us know if it happens again ...

Thanks.  Note that there are also a few CVS servers on civserver.freeciv.org.
If you compile the CVS client and play on a CVS client, the game hangups
are supposed to disappear.
