[Freeciv-Dev] Can you resize the mini-map?

Is there any way to resize the mini-map in the GTK+ client?  If not, how
hard would this be to code?
I generally play with huge world sizes (x=199, y=99) and the minimap seems
to take up about half
of the monitor realestate.  I'd really like to shrink it, make it
scrollable, or perhaps even get rid of it, 
 so I can see as much of my empire as possibe :>)
