Adding the sound code should be rather easy. I've looked at esound, and
using it seems rather straight-forward. It has the advantage of being
blessed by the holy gnomes (www.gnome.org/applist/view.phtml?name=esound), 
and it mixes sound streams and shares /dev/dsp between esound-enabled
applications all by itself. 

The hard part is getting good and legal sounds to play. If you can
find/make any, go ahead.
