This is a perfect summary of the problem.  In Europe, a book that
'happens to have a swastika on the cover' is *inconceivable*.  If you
read such a book in public, you are either a neo-nazi or a book-crazed
idiot with a WW II obsession.

Interesting!  So having a Confederate nation in Freeciv would actually
raise an protest from some Americans.  I didn't know that.

I don't think it's that bad.  The usual cliche this falls under is
'another stupid ignorant American'.  Americans did a lot to liberate us
from the Nazis and help us recover, so feelings will be mixed, at worst.
