1. I am not sure why do you have to play at all, you can just log in as an 
AI player from the very beginning and see it develop or die.

2. If you like such experimentation you can do a great service to AI 
development by testing the AI patches (or, indeed, contribute your own 
patches).  Please indicate if you want such testing requests being sent to
you from time to time.
