They were moved to Monday night for some reason several years ago. I was on
night shift then. I think what made the group of users that I am familure
with was the fact that windows me and 98 was so terrible we were all looking
for something dependable. The big problem I have found with linux is there
is just not any mainstream programs out there. Yes there are a few great
games, and definitely a lot of server applications, and open office. Linux
is just one great app away from being able to take over, but not yet. I have
tried very hard at my work, but I am not proud of the numbers. Of 300 plus
machines, only 30 or 40 are linux boxes, 8 of them are my servers. I have
the baddest pc in the plant running bru server backing up the rest of the
servers, but still nothing to brag about. I'd love to make every pc in the
plant a linux box. But I've lost the argument several times on the account
I cannot find applications to do many of the jobs.
I am so tired on Monday nights, that I usually melt into my chair and fall
asleep. Saturdays would be great for me, but it would interfere with
someone else. I have lots to give back to the linux community, but unless
windows 7 is a dog, linux is going to be banished to the server room.

Subject: [aclug-L] Are meetings still wanted?
The question I need to ask is if meetings are still wanted. Due to work
commitments I've been unable to attend as of late, but I've been told
that only a couple people have been showing up to most of the meetings.
So unless I hear a compelling reason to continue them, I'm going to
leave it up to Tom Wallis to decide if they are worth his time to
continue sponsoring them.
