I'm in the same situation as you. I bought a dual-layer burner, but
don't intend to use that functionality until media prices drop. I
haven't heard anything to suggest that they don't work in Linux. I
believe they use the same burning software as single-layer drives, but
that is a question I will check into. I'm sure by the time media prices
drop to "reasonable" (for me--I realize others may have different
definitions of reasonable for their own needs), that Linux will
certianly have support (if it doesn't already).
