That's how I got out of Gnome. It would not, however, let me switch
back from any other Xserver/WM. I ended up deleting my .Xclients 
file and it went back to the Gnome default. I never did find anything
in the xinitrc file except a reference to .Xclients. Anyway, we're
back to Gnome.
