1) You do not compile assembly programs--you assemble them.
2) The core assembly language is the same on any Intel platform,
regardless of the OS. But there is too much DOS stuff that you do in that
class to be able to write the programs in Linux.
I did all my assembly stuff in DOSemu under Linux, tho. Worked quite
well--better than real DOS in many respects, too--if my ASM program
crashed, I just restarted DOSemu rather than rebooting. :-)
