I am running :

red had 6.0
gnome
netscape 5.21
usernet
modem status on bottom bar

Problem:

When I am idle on the net, (even though I clicked re-connect), and when
the computer disconnects, while netscape is running, computer locks
up...sorta. What ever windows that are open on any layer, will still
operate, and save and load. But, no window can be opened. and you
cannot log off. User net shows a red window on the screen, of the
internet shut down, but the applets on the windows bar at the bottom,
still shows green. When you manually force the gnome down
(ctrl-backspace-alt) the computer shows a string of error messages, and
linux locks up entirely. The only solution is to control alt del, which
it then says sting woke up, and prompts, and then asks for the root
password, and then goes into the shutdown routine. About half way
through, the modem starts dialing up, and about time connection to the
isp is made, the computer resets for restart!! This is getting
extremely aggravating.

Mike
