I poked around a bit, but didn't see any references to it. Short-term
solution: run one local netscape and one 'remote' netscape, displayed
back to localhost.

Did find out that apache will ask you for a login/password if it hits
a stricter  .htaccess, but once you're past that, you can't appear to
be a mortal user from that session any more.
