2 Visit McConnell Air Force Base for a celebration of Wichita's rich
  aviation history. 

* Base opens to the public at 1 PM, airshow starts at 2 PM and ends
  at 8 PM.

* Public access to McConnell will be via George Washington Blvd to
  the northwest McConnell gate only -- all public parking (including
  handicap) will be on west side of McConnell this year. 

* ROAD CLOSURES: The following road closures will occur from 4-6 PM
  to facilitate the Thunderbird performance--Pawnee from Rock Road
  to Woodlawn, 47th Street from Rock Road to Oliver, and McConnell's
  Salina Road. 

* Concessions available for all your favorite airshow food and drinks,
  as well as souvenirs for young and old alike. 

* Check cashing trailer available. 

* Chair rentals available.

"Thunder in the Heartland: Wichita Air Power Blitz" is a free McConnell
Air Force Base open house and air show. To ensure the safety and security
of the event, attendees are asked to observe some necessary restrictions.
Coolers (Coolers used solely for infant care items allowed), skateboards,
bicycles, rollerblades, rollerskates, and alcohol of any kind will
not be allowed in the event area. There will be no smoking in the
area of the flight line, only in clearly marked, designed smoking
areas.
