I type 'em!  Seriously, I don't boot using xdm, I just boot to the text
login prompt and once verified am put into the bash shell.  From there I
just type the script I need.  The script needs to be chmod +x and the
directory it lives in be in your PATH, or else you'll have to type the
full path name.
