That very reason is why I dumped Feist three years ago. It was connection
roulette 90% of the time and seemed to be the same no matter when in the
day I connected. I finally had enough about the time I moved to
Clearwater, but would have dumped them anyway. It seems like most people
are happy with Southwind, but I'll probably start an ISP holy war by saying
that, and I have no direct experience with any other provider here except
Sprynet and I'd definitely advise against using them.

Hi, all
I have a 56k USR x2 modem (external) and using Feist as ISP, and I
have been using it for almost 2 years. Since last few weeks, my modem will
be suddenly disconnected after connection is up for about 5 to 10 mins.
That is too much pain, since sometimes I am writing my mail..,(sometimes
it happend on Win95).
Sometimes it will not be disconnected, althought the connection is
up for an hour or more. First, I thought the phone line problem, so I call
southwesten Bell and those techican guy came over, and they said the
line is ok, and luckily they didn't charge me at all.
I bring my modem to my friend and even my CPU to his house and
try in his place, my pc and modem seems work fine.
How do I check the connection speed on linux?
Any suggestion or comment are welcome?
TIA.
