Kudos to Steve Rubin and friends!
I've been playing with electric for the past two days and must say that
I
am impressed.
I compiled it out of the box under linux gcc 2.7.2.3(? RH 5.1 ) and
it has
been solid... no crashes, no bugs that I have found. There is
a _lot_ to
work with here.
To those who aspire to develop free EDA tools: you should look
here
before proceeding. There is a lot that has been developed and
here is an
opportunity to _not_ reinvent the wheel. And yes, there are a
number of
features that can be added on still.
Also, in visiting www.electriceditor.com I find that Steve has published
a
book on EDA on the web. I haven't had time to read it but just
skimming
through it there is a tremendous amount of good information.
If nothing
else, the appendices describing CIF, GDS-II and EDIF are most informative.
Again, thanks Steve!

haven't played with it much yet, but it looks like it could work
pretty well. Check it out if you're interested.
