You may want to check out some of the "discount" CD-ROM brokers; CheapBytes,
LinuxCentrel, etc.

The easiest way, IMHO, is to do something like this:
mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /cdrom
and then issue rpm commands manually from /cdrom/RedHat/RPMS or so if I
remember correctly, then umount /cdrom when done.

Joe is exactly like that. You may have to install it manually, but I'm
*sure* there's an RPM for it someplace. It's rather popular.
However, joe is rather limited. A lot of people like XEmacs -- it's VERY
powerful, but has a steep learning curve. The book _Learning GNU Emacs_ is
a good read.

If you have a recent kernel, say 2.0.35 or so, the driver is ne2k-pci.
Otherwise, the driver is ne.
This may be compiled in at boot; if so, it should be automatically
recognized. Otherwise, try:
modprobe ne2k-pci
or
modprobe ne

Yes, in RedHat, there is a netcfg tool and a LinuxConf tool. Best of luck
to you with them. They didn't quite work for me, but editing the files by
hand is pretty easy.
