[aclug-L] can't find shared lib

once again i'm trying out a new modeler.
i'm getting an error:
    libjpeg.so.62: cannot open shared object file: no such file or
directory

not only is it there, it's right where the docs say to put it.

is there something i need to do to tell it to help linux find it?

it's in the path listed by the rc file
