I currently own a Toshiba 445CDX and have a Megahertz 56k PC Card modem.
I have had great success logging onto the Internet using MCI despite
their lack of any understanding or knowledge of Unix/Linux. (Secret is
you have to figure out that they use CHAP authentication although their
rep's don't know what that is or that they use it.) Now onto my problem.
I recently upgraded my network in my home to 100Base-T and had no
problems with my desktop machines. The problem I am running into is,
with the new 100Base-T PC Card I use on my laptop. I own a Linksys
10/100 PCCARD and the card itself runs fine, but when I try to use PPP
it locks up, doesn't load chat, and won't return to the prompt without
me using control-c. I am currently using RedHat 5.0. I have checked and
there is no IRQ conflict with the modem, and Minicom works fine.
Everything I have triedto fix this problem has not worked. After getting
frustrated one weekend, I tried booting into Winbloze95 (eegaad). To no
surprise it has a similar problem. When I dial out with it, it connects
and then after training it immediately hangs up. If anyone has any ideas
I would greatly appreciate them. I am really getting sick of having to
pull the net card each time I want to login to the net with my laptop.

Thanks in advance.
Jeremy
