Hi All!

Well, a bit more digging, RTFM, and some blind luck allowed me to boot
after downloading the last rescue image available.  I got it at:

ftp://kalle.csb.ki.se/pub/

and the file name is:

resc1440.bin-only-aic7xxx

So I now have a nice color screen and the install shall proceed!

BTW, my previous message is being held by the listar software. 
Apparently I goofed and gave it some text it mistook for a command... :(
