FWIW, my upcoming book, the Linux Programming Bible will be out in Feb
2000. It's slated to be 800 to 1000 pages in length and will probably
come in at about 900. It will cover the following topics:

 * Bash programming & data files
 * Regular expressions
 * Emacs
 * gcc
 * make
 * memory management
 * debugging
 * processes
 * signals
 * advanced I/O & filesystems
 * terminals
 * IPC
 * pipes
 * TCP/IP
 * Perl basics
 * CGI
 * Perl SQL w/DBI
 * Perl/Tk
 * Gnome
 * CVS
 * Security
 * Performance
